Dessler

Born in 1892 and died in 1953. Rav Dessler was a student in the yeshiva of Kelm, then being led by Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Braude z”l, son of the Alter. In 1920, Rav Dessler married Bluma, the grand-daughter of the Alter of Kelm. In the early 1940’s he became part of the early leadership of the Gateshead kollel. He would eventual make his way to the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak where he served as the mashgiach ruchani until his passing. His Torah was transmitted via his students posthumously through the Michtav me-Eliyahu in both Hebrew and English. In addition, his successor in Ponevezh, Rav Chaim Friedlander z”l regularly refered to Rav Dessler in his own work the Siftei Chayyim.
